Great night supporting the Whirter Family at Appalachian Ski & Outdoors

December 21st, 2018 by Chuck Morrison

Thank you to all who supported this event!

“Liam Wirtner turned 4 on July 28. He lives in Warriors Mark with his parents, Jill Lewis and Tyler Wirtner. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Along with the leukemia the doctors found two very rare abnormal genetic markers. Leaving the doctors puzzled as to how to treat Liam. He is currently at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. He recently started a heavy round of chemo (he receives chemo almost daily – one treatment being administered directly into his spin while under anesthesia). He will need to have the high risk chemo, with significant side effects, for the next three years. He current is having seizures as a side effect to the chemo. That’s a reason why he has remain inpatient.

His family has had a rough few years. Their home caught fire, losing almost everything. Shortly after moving back into their home after rebuilding, Tyler was in a car accident and broke his neck. He was off work for several weeks. Then last winter Jill was in a car accident. But nothing hits their hearts harder than what they are going through now with Liam. Tyler is off work without pay with potential to lose his job. Jill is also off work. I’m not sure if Jill is receiving pay currently. The family is able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. I believe the best way to help the family financially is to perhaps help with a household bill or car payment maybe.”
